Why not print your own labels?

Today, it's actually quite easy to create fantastic results with beautiful colors and details with a 4-color label printer when you print yourself.
The costs of making your own labels are so low that if you need between 1-30,000 labels per month or have many different variants, it often doesn't pay off to buy them from your regular label printing company.
Here, there are often quite significant startup costs, which you completely avoid by having your own little label printing company on your desk. Additionally, you have no waste, and you achieve your own design freedom.
You can print on many different types of paper and media.

We are dealers of Epson Colorworks 4-color label printers and are experts in their use and setup. Therefore, we can always assist with the full setup and training so you can be fully self-sustaining in your production.

Advantages of printing your labels yourself

Economic Savings

  • Save money compared to outsourcing print tasks
  • Eliminate all startup costs. This means your label price is the same whether you make 5 or 500 labels at a time.
  • The price of a label printer is surprisingly low
  • The ongoing operating cost, including ink and paper, is very advantageous
  • There is no waste as you can always print exactly what you need

User-Friendliness

  • Everyone can create beautiful labels with user-friendly solutions
  • No special knowledge or skills are required – you get started quickly
  • You can print PDF, JPG, TIFF, or directly from almost all software packages on the market

Increased Efficiency

  • There is no delivery time when you print yourself
  • You can print in minutes
  • You can print around the clock, every day of the week, all year round

Typical Customers Who Can Use a Label Printer

Coffee Roasters and Coffee Producers

Many coffee producers and roasters need labels in small quantities and with many variants.
Here, it makes sense to use your own label printer to achieve the perfect branding and look on your coffee bags.
You can easily print what we call variable data, such as expiration date and batch number directly on the label without the need to print on your pre-purchased labels. Therefore, Epson label printers are also very popular among this customer type. See the Coffee Manifesto case story for more info.

Beer, Wine, and Spirits Producers

For many micro-producers of beer, wine, and spirits, standing out is crucial, and here a full-color label can be an important strategy. Usually, these are small quantities and you need variable data such as date and batch number. You can easily handle this yourself.
If we supply your labels for you, we can even make it so that both the front and back labels on the bottle are printed at the same time and are ready for direct mounting on the bottle.

Exhibition Organizers and Ticket Systems

Although Epson ColorWorks is made as a label printer, it can do much more. Being a 4-color printer, it can also be used as an entry ticket printer or for printing "nametags": There are self-adhesive tear-resistant materials that can print name tags, which can then easily be attached to the participant's keychain.
You can use it for branding and with color marking on the nametag, you can easily distinguish, for example, exhibitor and visitor.

Pharmacies and Healthcare

Traditionally, almost all labels at pharmacies and in healthcare have been printed using black/white thermal printing.
However, the EU has introduced new requirements for better labeling, and colors are now required especially for hazard markings.
Epson ColorWorks supports the ZPL language, which allows you to replace your old thermal printer with very few changes and get full-color labels.

Food Producers

There are various types of food producers that use label printers in their production.
Some we typically see include honey producers, jam producers, candy producers, fruit producers, chocolate producers, spice producers, nut traders, and bakeries.
Here they are used for both front and back labels, branding, or wraparound packaging.

Private Label

If you have a private label product or are considering getting one in the future, it is very important to ensure that your front or product labels are nice, colorful, and make your brand stand out from the crowd.
This can be done in many ways, either by ordering them "in the city" or producing them yourself with Epson ColorWorks.
We recommend printing them yourself so you have full control over your label and save money per label you use.

Marketing/ Print on Demand

With your own label printer, you can easily create personalized items, as we have seen on Cola bottles, Nutella jars, or beer bottles.
With this solution, you can do it down to the single bottle level, which is quite unique.
It could also be that you want your own branded water bottles in your company or at a trade show. The possibilities are many, so it's mostly your own ideas that set the limits.

E-Cigarette Producers

The market for e-cigarettes, vape cannabis oil has grown explosively in recent years. In this market, almost all dealers have their own private label brand. For that, labels are needed, and since there is a lot of liquid in containers that are opened again and again, it is important that it is water and tear-resistant.
We can achieve this with our printer solution and paper so that the print is waterproof and tearproof, allowing you as a dealer to be sure you comply with the legislation.

Retail

In retail, Epson ColorWorks printers are used to print shelf labels in full color.
In Denmark, all Netto's shelf labels are printed with an Epson ColorWorks printer, even though they are still black and white, but in the EU we have seen, for example, large DIY store chains printing in full color with both images and prices.
This is done so the customer in the store can easily distinguish products on the shelves and avoid misunderstandings.

Butcheries

Many butcheries have realized that today there is an alternative to the classic black/white thermal printed labels.
Epson ColorWorks can integrate with different scale manufacturers, making weighing and marking no longer a hindrance.
This works by the butcher placing "meat" on the scale, which is connected to the printer, and here a label automatically comes out with date, best before, weight, or whatever they wish. All in full color with lots of branding value, so the local butcher can stand out.

Chemical and Cleaning Product Producers

In combination with the right media and ink, you can print chemical-approved labels (GHS). We therefore see significant interest from manufacturers of cleaning products and chemical producers, as well as any place in production where items need marking but still require daily cleaning. This could be, for example, dairies, large kitchens, and the pharmaceutical industry.
Some of our customers also use them to mark e.g. fish crates and oil drums, which come into contact with water.

Warehouse and Packing Lines

Even something as simple and boring as warehouse labels and labels attached to automated packing lines can also be updated for easier identification and sorting.
Epson ColorWorks can take ZPL, so you can easily replace your old thermal black/white printers with a 4-color printer.

Unleash Your Imagination - Get Labels in Almost Any Shape and Size

When you print your own labels, you are no longer limited by the few sizes Epson standard offers. You can order die-cut labels in the exact size you need. It doesn't matter if they need to be square, oval, or round.

Fantasy Dies

With our fantasy dies, only your imagination sets the limits. To create a label according to your needs, we need a dimensionally accurate die drawing at a 1:1 scale.
The file is sent for approval to us, where we then send a draft of the label back.

Borderless Printing

To achieve true borderless printing, it requires you to order our labels to size and then leave what is called a "matrix" on the roll. The labels you can print are what are called true borderless labels, meaning you can print right to the edge.
The only challenge with this is that they can only be used for manual application when a matrix is present.
If they need to be applied with an automatic label applicator, there is an extra work step, which requires a matrix remover/stripper.
We place a blackmark on the back of the paper, which tells the printer exactly where to start its print. With this, you ensure your labels start perfectly every time.
It's important that you choose "Yes" for borderless print in your order if you desire this.
